Howard Edmund Dunlap Jr.

Howard Edmund Dunlap, Jr., also known as Howie or Jay, passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 54 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on October 10, 1969, in Newark, Ohio. Jay was a kind-hearted individual, devoted to his loved ones, and had a deep passion for his family, the Bengals, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Survived by his beloved partner in crime, Raven Collins; daughter, Harley Dunlap; son, Austin Collins; father, Howard Dunlap Sr.; a crew of sisters who always had his back - Connie (Bob) Schaefer, Trina Angus, and Holly (John) Porter; not to mention his awesome squad of nephews- Ethan (Emily), Noah, Michael Schaefer, and John Porter; along with his fabulous nieces, Hannah and Leah, Sister Maria de la Cruz, Becca, Jo Schaefer, and Charlotte Porter; great nephews, Azariah and Casper Schaefer; aunts, Phyllis (Larry) Bussey and Tammy Dusthimer; and uncle, Leslie Dusthimer. Jay iss preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen (Dusthimer) Angus and Charles Angus, as well as his brother, Todd Angus and nephew, James Brown. Jay was a 1988 graduate of Newark Senior High School and later dedicated over 20 years of his life to Captain D's on 21st Street, where he served smiles and joy to so many people. In his leisure time, Jay enjoyed watching his beloved Buckeyes and Bengals compete. He also discovered a passion for fishing, which became a cherished pastime that he enjoyed with his daughter, as well as a secret joy of writing poetry. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, to honor and remember Jay's life. Guests will be received at 1pm, with the service commencing at 2pm. The service will take place at Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church, located at 1415 Londondale Parkway, Newark, Ohio, 43055. Jay's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind nature, unwavering loyalty, and love for his family will forever be treasured and held close to our hearts. As we gather to pay our respects, let us find solace in the memories we shared and the impact Jay had on our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
