Gwendolyn Renee West

Gwendolyn Renee West, 42, of Carroll, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on August 24, 2025. Gwen was born on April 28, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio to Charles E. (Gene) and Cheryl L. (Cher) West. Gwen was predeceased by her grandmothers, Karen N. Oswalt and Ruth West Lawrence, and two uncles, Randy and Mark Oswalt. Gwen is survived by her parents, Gene and Cher West of Carroll, Ohio; her sister, Bree Buttler (Brian) and niece, Addyson Buttler, of Galloway, Ohio; her aunts, Janet M. Kuhn of Pickerington, Ohio, and Christine Givens (George) of Houston, Texas, and cousins, Karenmaria, Skye, Leili, Rachel, Emily, Amy, David, Sophia, Courtnay and Jennifer. Gwen was a 2001 graduate of Pickerington High School and earned a BA degree in 2006 from Ohio Dominican University. Gwen was a substitute teacher in a number of school districts including 10+ years in the Pickerington School District. She was also employed at Capital University, The Ohio State University, and recently at Columbus State Community College as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of Pickerington Church of Christ. Gwen was a true Millennial: “tree hugger”, couch surfer, Yelp Elite member, and world traveler. She had travelled to Mexico, China, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Croatia, Costa Rica and Morroco. She was a staunch supporter of small businesses, especially restaurants, whether American, Asian, Mediterranean or Mexican. It was rare for her to eat at average chain restaurants! She never passed up a chance to stop at Buc-ee’s and buy a T-shirt for herself. Her collection of T-shirts from her travels is also extensive. Gwen was a fan of city murals and photographed all she could find. She never met a stranger, whether young or old, and she brought joy and laughter to everyone. She will be sadly missed by her family but never forgotten. May the peace of God be with you, our beloved Gwen. A memorial service will be held at Pickerington Church of Christ, 9645 Stoudertown Road NW, Pickerington, Ohio 43147, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2:00PM. Refreshments will be served following the service.
