Karen K. Morrison

Karen Kay Morrison (Karshner), 72, of Canal Winchester, OH passed away peacefully Tuesday (2/19/2019) at home in the arms of her devoted husband. Born August 6, 1946 in Columbus, OH, Karen was the youngest daughter to Noah Elijah Karshner of Laurelville, OH and Henrietta Arnold. She married her high school sweetheart on April 13, 1963 and graduated from Canal Winchester High School, class of 1964, via correspondence after the birth of their only child. Karen retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of dedicated employment as a rural carrier in the Canal Winchester office. She was a loyal Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and shared the love of sports with her daughter as teammates on the Rutherford Auto Body softball team and in bowling leagues around Columbus, OH. Karen loved to travel and spent time with her husband visiting national parks, amusements, and attractions on their motorcycle. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and spent many hours volunteering for the Trash and Treasure sale. She traveled the country and danced at local festivals as a member of various clogging clubs, most recently with Teays Valley Cloggers in Circleville, OH. Karen was an avid gardener and enjoyed the years after retirement caring for her great-grandchildren. She brought beauty and love into every area of her life. Karen was recently preceded in death by dear brothers in law, David Leroy Ervin and Richard Morrison. She is survived by a large and loving family: husband, Robert Morrison of Canal Winchester, OH; daughter, Pam Harris (Morrison); granddaughters, Marcy Kay Harris-Ortiz (Damien Ortiz), and Alexa Burks; great-grandchildren, Kaiya Ortiz, Isaiah Ortiz, Ella Knowlton, Atticus Ortiz, and Austin Burks; sisters, Norma Sweitzer of Pensacola, FL, and Nina Ervin of Grove City, OH; as well as innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless loving friends. A memorial service will be held in Karen's honor 2:30 pm, Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Hope United Methodist Church, Canal Winchester, OH. The family is inviting visitors to stay after the service for condolences and light refreshments.
