Mary Lee (Whitehead) Buchanan April 3, 1937 — July 29, 2026 Mary Lee (Whitehead) Buchanan, age 89, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. She was born April 3, 1937, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to the late Clarence and Hazel Whitehead. Mary Lee was a devoted and loving mother to her 3 children. She spent several years working in the credit department at Sears. Music was one of the great joys of her life — an accomplished pianist, she shared her gift for over thirty years as pianist at Grace Baptist Church. Her faith and love for children were further reflected in the 40 plus years she spent teaching Sunday School in the primary department. Outside of church, Mary Lee cherished simple pleasures — games of Skip-Bo with her grandchildren, vacations at Myrtle Beach, the quiet rhythm of knitting and sewing, reading, and long walks. But more than anything, she treasured the time spent surrounded by her family; her two sisters and their families, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death on March 7, 2026, by her devoted husband of 69 years, Lawrence "Larry" Buchanan. Mary Lee is survived by her three children, Ronald Buchanan (Cheryl) of Alliance, Ohio; Debbie Sisler of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Rhonda Carmel (Mike) of Canal Winchester, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jaime Parker (Scott) of Alliance, Ohio; Ronald Buchanan Jr. (Becky) of Navarre, Ohio; Jennifer Guyton (Aaron) of Wilson, North Carolina; Katie Crosby (Kevin) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Tana Byrum (Matt) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Megan Carmel of Columbus, Ohio. She was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mary Lee is further survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Buchanan of Lakeview, New York, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Sue Rivetti, and her son-in-law, Philip Sisler. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 26, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 5050 Middlebranch Ave NE, Canton, OH 44705, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Mary Lee's memory
