Patricia K. Hinger

Patricia K. Hinger of Newark, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. Service will be held at 12pm on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43213 in the chapel with Pastor Corbin Huffman officiating. Patricia was born on July 7, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Herbert W. and Edna (Fulton) Orem. She graduated from Linden High School where she was a cheerleader and member of the May Day Court during her senior year. She met her future husband, France Hinger, when she was a sophomore in high school at the Crystal Ball Room at Buckeye Lake. They married on July 18, 1947 and their life journey began. They were together until France passed away in 2015. They will be buried together to continue on in eternity. She is leaving behind two children and their spouses, Mike (Arletta) Hinger and Kim (Carl) Draves; nine grandchildren, Aaron Houdeshell, Angela Houdeshell, Adam (Brooke) Houdeshell, Jake (Linka) Conkel, Mike (Brandy) Hinger, and Lindsay (Jeremy) Wolfe, Alex Draves, Catherine (Dustin) Davis, and Carly Draves; 18 great-grandchildren; and three nieces and one nephew. Her niece, Linda Adams, was like another daughter to Pat and France. They would visit Linda and her husband, Jake, on their way to and from Florida every year, which was even more special than going to Florida. Pat and France loved playing cards with their friends and family. Anyone who knew Pat, knew she loved her potato chips. The joke at Christmas time was to buy her chips. Pat and France spent many hours bowing at Valley Lanes and Park Lanes when they were younger. They ran bantam and junior bowling leagues at Valley Lanes on Saturday morning for years. They looked forward to their annual trip to Florida but their ultimate joy was their grandchildren. When they played card games with the grandkids, Grandpa would cheat to see if they would catch him. When they caught him, he would laugh and be amazed they watched him so closely. As Pat and France got older, their absolute joy was when they had the opportunity to visit with their grandkids. Pat’s great sense of humor, quick wit and loving personality will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Central Ohio.
