Robin Allyson Carr

Robin Allyson Carr (Honaker), aged 63, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side and her daughter holding her hand on June 21, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1961, and was welcomed with open arms by her parents, Richard and Lois Honaker. Robin was a life-long South Charleston resident and a member of the 1979 graduating class. Only recently had she moved to Columbus, Ohio to be close to her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Richard Honaker; brother, Brett Honaker; and aunt, Sally Wagner. Robin is survived by her only child and soulmate, Allyson Carr; sister-in-law, Patti Watters; nephew, Derek Honaker (Cara); niece, Crystal Angel (Alfredo); great-nephew, Jackson White; lifelong friend, Vonda Matthews; and her beloved pets, Bruno, Penny, and Esther. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many close and devoted friends. It’s impossible to try to summarize Robin’s life in such a short amount of words when she deserves a thousand pages about how extraordinary she was. Robin was known to light up a room with her contagious laugh. As her father would often say, she always had a smile on her face and song in her heart. Robin spent her 39-year teaching career focused on creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for her students to learn and grow. The beginning of her career was spent with students with disabilities; the middle of her career was spent teaching a variety of subjects to a range of ages from middle school to high school; and she ended her career helping students in the juvenile justice system graduate from high school. Robin had a soft spot for students who needed extra love and support, and she embraced the opportunity to be more than a teacher, but also their mentor. Many notes and letters from former students show the positive impact she had on their lives. Outside of the classroom, Robin loved being with family and friends. She was always up for an adventure: a road trip, antique shopping, game night, or a baseball game. If the activity involved music, even better. She was riveted by the beauty of nature, and she found joy in gardening, the ocean, and sunshine. Per her request, there will be no funeral or service. However, there will be a party! Join us at Little Creek Country Club on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 1-5 P.M. to celebrate Robin’s birthday and life.
