Rebecca "Sue" (White-Wallick-French) Privett

Rebecca “Sue” (White-Wallick-French) Privett, age 66, with a spring in her step and surrounded by loved ones, left this world on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Born on February 1, 1949, in Prenter, WV, in the living room of her favorite Aunt Midge & Uncle Pat. She is preceded in death by her dad, Herbert White and her brother, James White, of whom she worshipped as a kid. She is survived by her caring husband, Mike Privett; glamorous mom, Maudie (Betty) White; best friend and daughter, Kim (Wallick) Uemura; favorite granddaughter, Josie Uemura; and favorite cousin, Rodney (Bubby) Bratcher (Barb); and many cousins. She is a ’66 graduate of North High School. Mom’s laughter was infectious and her witty remarks were never in short supply. She devoured true crime novels, loved to eat straight from her garden and try new recipes with her husband. There wasn’t a word Oprah, Suze Orman or Ellen said that didn’t get repeated to those around her. She loved her flower gardens and the beach. She despised cruelty and mean mother-in-laws. She lived for her daughter and granddaughter, of which there was nothing she wouldn’t do. She is the best friend and mother any daughter could ask for. She will forever be the voice in our head and the brightest star in the sky. She leaves behind her favorite grandchild; a courageous, independent, smart, creative girl with such a caring heart who can do anything when put to task. Mom cherished her best friends: Barb, Debbie & Mike, Juanita, Rosemary, Margaret and John Jay. Husband, Mike, survived twenty-five years, of which he’s been a great caretaker for her and her family. She leaves to him a house of dusty treasures, recipe books and finally endless hours to play golf! We don’t know what we would have done without him. Also thanks to Nurse Nancy with Mount Carmel Hospice. And last but not least, she asks that you PUT DOWN THAT CIGARETTE! She wanted you to know, “I have robbed my family of decades of growing old and laughing together. The pain and panic of suffocating is enormous, but it pales in comparison to watching my family feel my pain as they lovingly care for and comfort me. Find the will and courage that escaped me.” The family will hold a private gathering following cremation to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, if desired, she asks that you share fond memories of her, with her daughter and granddaughter, over the years to come, to be read and re-read.
