William Joseph Hutchinson

William Joseph “Bill” Hutchinson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, with the family he loved gathered close. Born on September 15, 1939, in Crozet, Albemarle County, Virginia, Bill lived a life rooted in faith, honesty, and a quiet strength that shaped everyone around him. Bill spent 65 beautiful years married to the love of his life, Dorothy Morganthall Hutchinson. Their marriage was a true partnership—steady, tender, and filled with the small everyday moments that became the heart of their family. Together they raised three children—Juliann (Kenny) Fisher, Joseph Hutchinson, and Darren (Jennifer) Hutchinson—and Bill poured his whole heart into being their father. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were genuinely his greatest joy. Bill was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Hutchinson and great granddaughter, Bryleigh Valley; his parents, William David Hutchinson and Mary Virginia Shiflett, as well as his sisters Mae Goodman and Shirley Widzbor. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life. He leaves behind a family who adored him: his sister, Virginia Shiflett; his children; his grandchildren—Michelle Fisher, Meghan (Craig) Valley, Matt (Tia) Fisher, Jacob (Cheyenne Jarvis) Clark, Evelyn Clark, and Samuel Clark; and his great-grandchildren—Alex Brauneis, Brianna, Braelynne, and Brady Valley. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he loved watching them grow, laugh, and find their way in the world. Bill spent his career in the finance industry, where he was respected for his fairness, reliability, and genuine kindness. But his happiest place was always home—working in his backyard, enjoying a peaceful afternoon outside and listening to bluegrass, or settling in to watch his Ohio State Buckeyes. He found joy in simplicity and gratitude in every blessing, and he taught his family to do the same. Bill lived his faith quietly but deeply. He served the Lord in the way he lived—through compassion, humility, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. His presence was steady, comforting, and good. To be loved by him was to know unconditional support and a feeling of home. We will miss his gentle smile, his calm wisdom, and the way he made every gathering feel complete just by being there. His legacy lives on in all of us—in the stories we share, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely. Services to honor Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
