Anna Violet Zobenica

Anna “Violet” Zobenica peacefully left her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of September 8, 2023. Violet grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio. The youngest of six siblings, she was the sweetheart of the family, beloved by her two brothers and three older sisters, as well as by her nurturing mother, Kata. She was preceded in death by her father John and her mother Kata, her two brothers and their wives, Dushan and Sally, and Johnny and Mary, as well as two of her sisters and their husbands, Dorothea and Budd Tillman and Zorina and Gene Minix, and her brother-in-law Chad Smith. She was also preceded in death by her nephews Ricky, Pete (aka “Pee Wee”), and Brent Zobenica, She is survived by her sister Dessie Smith and her nephews Donn Tillman, Chad (Eugenia) Smith, and Randy (Kimberly) Minix, and her nieces Nancy (Mike) Blatnik, Cindy (Danny) Erb, Corrina Zobenica, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful kitty who remained by her side through her departure, “Baby,” who is now in the care of her niece Nancy. While in assisted living, Violet’s grandniece Jennifer Miller (Derek), who lived nearby, visited her often and helped with many of her needs. Violet spent her adult years working for Western Electric, then Ranco, and later at a book-binding company in Columbus. Her last job, which she had all the way into her 80s was for a cleaning company, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Although she never married or had children of her own, she spent as much time as possible with her nephews and nieces both in Ohio and Florida. She also loved the company of her siblings and their spouses, who all maintained close relationships throughout their lives. Up until the time she entered an assisted living facility in Lancaster, she faithfully visited her one remaining sister Dessie in a nursing facility in Columbus. A lover of sunshine and the outdoors, Violet’s two favorite pastimes were sunbathing and maintaining her yard and flower gardens. Wherever she lived, she always had the most prolific flowers of the neighborhood, with people often stopping to admire them. The family will gather to memorialize Violet at a future time to be determined. Until then, we reflect back on her vibrant life and personality and look forward to seeing her again in her heavenly home, where she will probably cultivate even more stunning flower gardens than she ever could here on earth. A special thanks to all who cared for our beloved Violet at Bickford Assisted Living Facility, as well as at Lanfair Rehab, and to all of the wonderful Echo Hospice staff who were so kind and helpful in her last earthly days.
