Broderick "Zach" Zachariah Poore

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of my brother Broderick Zachariah, lovingly known as "Zach", on August 15, 2026 at 37 years young. He was born at THE Ohio State University to Lauren and Randall Poore on June 30, 1989. Zach fought many medical conditions stemming from endocarditis and defied every doctor he ever met; however, his body could no longer fight, and God called him home. Zach was the salt of the earth kind of man in a gentle giant's body. He had a genuinely warm, welcoming smile and an infectious laugh. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and found solace in music. He loved football and was an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines - hating the Buckeyes with every cell in his body. He also loved the Green Bay Packers. Zach played football, soccer and wrestled throughout middle and high school during his time at Groveport Madison where he graduated in 2007. Although Zach was opinionated, he listened when you spoke. You knew the conversation being had was coming from the kindest heart and a mind that was wise well beyond his years. He had the driest sense of humor, so when something was funny to share, he would tell every single person he talked with. His kindness, warmth and willingness to "get it done" for others was never unseen. Zach truly had a heart of gold and was loved deeper than anyone can measure. He is survived by his parents Lauren Poore of Columbus and Randall Poore of Malta, Ohio, sisters Nicholle Poore, and Natalie Petruskevich of Ashville, niece Brenna Bailey and nephews Autrey and Bohden Blevins, uncles Tim (Michelle) Petruskevich of Lewis Center, David (Amy) Petruskevich of Groveport, aunt Karen Petruskevich (Robert Duignan) of Everett, WA, cousins Meredith Petruskevich, Derek Petruskevich, Analese (Brandon) White, Sophia Petruskevich, and Evan Petruskevich, and his longtime girlfriend Natasha Waugh, their son Camden, and his "bonus babies" Kaylynn, Philip Jr., and Autumn. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Alberta Petruskevich of Groveport, niece Hollis Blevins, and "brother" Rygdon Bailey. Zach will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, and a man who loved his "people" deeply. To write "special person" for the people who loved him the most isn't a proper title, however, those below meant the most to Zach. On August 11, 2007, my brother gained the title of Uncle Zachie. While at St. Ann's, Brenna was being quite stubborn and after 40 hours of labor, Brenna was scheduled to arrive via emergency c-section at 2130. Zach arrived to the hospital at 2100 and waved his wallet and keys and said "Uncle Zachie will give you anything you want baby girl. Just come out for your mom". Twenty-two minutes later, Brenna was delivered naturally. Zach was the third person to hold her and refused to give Brenna up to anyone. He sat in the hospital all night to be there for Brenna's first bath, diaper change, and feeding. He sobbed uncontrollably when Brenna had hiccups thinking they hurt her and hysterically cried in the pediatrician's office when she received her first round of shots. Zach and Brenna went together like two peas in a pod. There wasn't a time that he did not dote on his "baby girl". All who knew him saw the love he had for his only niece and he loved her like his own. Derek Petruskevich and Zach were self-proclaimed brothers albeit being cousins. Growing up Zach and Derek were the only grandson in our female dominated family. Those two would spend hours avoiding us girls by playing Nintendo 64, playing ball outside with the other neighborhood boys, pull pranks of our grandparents, cheering for the Wolverines together, and spending many weekends and summers with our Uncle Tim and Aunt Michelle. Uncle David lovingly known as "Mean Old Ogre Uncle David" played a huge part in our lives, too. He was the uncle that would pick us up for the weekend, tell us when we were being jerks, show up for school functions, and always made sure he'd kiss our heads and say "I love you" before dropping us off. Later in life, Aunt Amy became a part of our family, and goodness gracious the way Zach took to her was incredible. She provided motherly love and comfort when he so desperately needed a warm shoulder to lean on. Aunt Karen and Uncle Bob haven't been local due to military lifestyle, but that never stopped their unwavering love and support for my brother. Zach and Aunt Karen shared a bond from the time he was little until his passing that many people will never experience. She was truly one of the guiding lights in his life. Zach met his "brother" Rygdon and were inseparable until Rygdon's passing in 2012. The trauma Zach suffered from the loss was carried so heavily and dimmed his internal light until his passing. Although they are both gone, we can rejoice knowing they are "cuttin rugs" in heaven. As his sister, he and I were incredibly close. We protected another and shared many laughs thoughout life. To write what I meant to him doesn't feel right, but would this epitaph really be written by me if I didn't point out how I was truly his favorite person ever, or the nod the THE Ohio State Buckeyes? My family would like to say thank you for the support and efforts made by the Madison Township and Columbus Police and Fire departments, as well as, the physicians, nursing and all hospital staff that have met my brother over the past two decades. We appreciate everything you did to help my brother. God Bless you all. Private cremation services will be held for the family. A celebration of life will be announced once I receive his ashes.
