Coltin Eugene Osborne, 33, beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, engineer, and Buckeye, passed away on August 4th, 2026, after nearly a year of recovering from a hemorrhagic stroke. He was greeted in Heaven by his beloved pitbull-weenie, Margot. Coltin was born on November 11th, 1992, and raised in Mount Gilead, Ohio. He was a proud homeschool graduate, and his friends lovingly joked that he was a graduate of “Martha’s School for the Underprivileged.” He participated in many activities in his youth, including 4-H, forestry camp, church activities, and running a lucrative snow-shoveling business. There is no easy way to summarize a life like Coltin’s. He was funny—SO loudly. There was no snarky comment he made that he didn’t make boisterously and confidently. He was fiercely loyal, incredibly smart, and genuinely good. He was the kind of person who collected people throughout his life and kept them. Between childhood friends and Alpha Gamma Rho brothers, Coltin seemed to have a million best friends, and somehow, each of them has a story that perfectly captures who he was. Coltin was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University in 2015 and an Industrial Engineer by profession and, in many ways, by personality. He was a problem solver. He liked understanding how things worked and figuring out how they could work better. He brought that attitude into his home in Gahanna, where he completed many projects, in his words, “correctly.” He loved Ohio State football, the Indianapolis Colts, running, cooking, playing games, and jamming to rock and metal music. He was a frequent concert-goer and made many of his best memories in a music venue. He loved a good joke and could always be found laughing with someone, drink in hand. But more than any hobby, team, song, or place, Coltin loved his people. And no one was more important to him than his family. Coltin met the love of his life, Jillian, in 2017 and built a life together over nearly 10 years, five of them as husband and wife. Their greatest adventure was becoming parents to their daughter, June Magnolia. June arrived early, weighing just 2 lbs. 12 oz., and spent her first month of life in the NICU. From the very beginning, Coltin was a devoted father. He went with her straight from delivery to the NICU and never left her side. He was gentle, patient, playful, and completely enamored with his little girl. Becoming June’s dad was one of the greatest joys of his life. On August 30th, 2025, while at home with Jillian and June watching the Ohio State vs. Texas football game, Coltin suffered a catastrophic hemorrhagic stroke at his brainstem. All testing was negative for a cause. He was 32 years old, healthy, active, and in the middle of building a beautiful life with his young family. What followed was a nearly year-long journey no family could have anticipated. Coltin survived what initially seemed unsurvivable. Through intensive care units, rehabilitation, ventilators, a tracheostomy, countless hospitalizations, setbacks, victories, and trips back home, he continued to fight. Jillian had the privilege of caring for him throughout the entirety of his journey: bringing him home and making the living room an ICU, learning every aspect of his care, advocating fiercely for him, and making sure that through everything, he remained surrounded by familiarity, dignity, and love. She became Coltin’s around-the-clock caregiver all while caring for their young daughter, June. Their vows took on a meaning neither of them could have imagined when they made them. But the final year of Coltin’s life is only one chapter of his story. Before there were hospital rooms and medical equipment, there were football Saturdays and concerts. There were runs with stops at Rita’s for ice cream on the way home. There were ridiculous jokes and nights spent with friends. There were jam sessions with Tyler. There were stories and family traditions. There was a little girl who knew him simply as Dada. There was a marriage, a home, and an ordinary life that, looking back, was anything but ordinary. There was Coltin Eugene Osborne. He leaves behind his wife, Jillian; their daughter, June Magnolia; and their dog, Piper; along with his parents, Dan and Martha Osborne; his sister, Erin Roberts; his best friend, Tyler Butler; his extended family; his Alpha Gamma Rho brothers; and an enormous circle of friends whose lives are permanently better because Coltin was part of them. The world feels immeasurably worse without Coltin in it. But our lives are immeasurably better because he was here. Coltin will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held on September 5th, 2026, at Gatsby’s in Gahanna at 1 p.m., a local favorite of Coltin’s. The family requests that everyone wear Ohio State gear or a band shirt to honor him. It will be a time for the people who loved him to gather, tell stories, laugh, cry, listen to music, and celebrate the remarkable man they were lucky enough to know.
