Deshawn Antuan Houston, born on March 21, 1983, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, leadership, and family. Known for his warm spirit, determination, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Deshawn touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Deshawn attended Cornell Heights, Mcfarlane, and Patterson Co-op in Dayton, Ohio, where he built lasting friendships and developed the leadership qualities that would define his life. A hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit, Deshawn’s professional journey included positions at Arby’s and Amazon, and he rose to the role of General Manager at Little Caesars. His passion for mentoring led him to serve as a teacher at Parker’s Learning Center, where he made a meaningful impact on young lives. He also pursued his entrepreneurial dreams through his own venture, Bop of All Trades. Deshawn had a deep love for building and working on cars, a passion he shared with family and friends. Above all, he was a natural leader among his peers and a devoted family man whose greatest joy was his children and loved ones. Deshawn now joins those who preceded him in death: his father, Lonnie Houston; his stepfather, Thurman Hart; his nephew, Derrick Samuels Jr; his aunts, Glenda Phillips and Shirley Holland; and his aunt, Thelma Wells. Deshawn is survived by his devoted mother, Rosalyn Crawford; his loving fiancée, Sinyte Simms; his mother-in-law, Lisa Kendrick; and his father-in-law, Richard Kendrick. He was a proud father to his children: • Sons: Sincere Dekoldess Houston and Markell Witherspoon • Daughter: Mar’Kjya Witherspoon Deshawn will be deeply missed by his siblings: • Sisters: Shonnell Wilkins, Johnanna Harris, Toi Houston, Lakei Houston, Zeta Houston, Laquie Houston, Lashauna Gaines, and Lameka Houston • Brothers: Lonnie Houston Jr., Darnell Houston, LaShawn Houston, Ryan Houston, Bryan Houston, and James Gaines He also leaves behind his beloved aunts: • Living aunts: Joyce Crockett, Delores Davis, Joan Wilkins, and Darlene Skipper His uncles: Leonard Houston, Larry Houston, Lloyd Houston, Lamon Houston, and Leslie Houston. Deshawn is also survived by his close cousin, Roy Davis, and his wife Keisha Davis; his dear friend, Alan Hale; and many extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished him.
