Johnny Louis Taylor

Johnny Louis Taylor went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Johnny was born to the late Gloria and Johnny Williams on January 20, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He did all his schooling there and his Grandma Louis took him to church three times a week. Johnny always said that he had a personal relationship with God and kept his faith in Him at all times. Johnny left Milwaukee at the age of sixteen with his Uncle Will and set out on an adventure and a new lifestyle which he then mastered through the years with his wits and charm. He truly succeeded in mastering the game! Johnny was very generous in those times and until final days he would always lend a helping hand. He has many people that reference him as “Uncle Dollar” or “Pops.” He would feed people at no charge at his restaurant when they were short of money or had no money at all. Johnny met his wife of twenty years, Nyomi Taylor, on June 29, 1999, at a red light in California. He vowed to her to be a better man which he conquered and more. He was the kids’ tickle finger and Uncle Elmo. He had all the patience and love for his children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a host of many others as well. He loved to read Donald Goins books, and he accomplished many goals and dreams. He was proud to change his life around and of becoming the man he always wanted to be. Johnny was very loyal, loving, and respectful to his elders and others. He was very committed to what he believed in. Johnny was a Baptist, and he loved to cook and watch boxing. He opened a restaurant in 2008 called Gloria’s Home Cooked Soul Food in honor of his mother, his wife, and daughter, Mamie. During the time that the restaurant was open, it gained 5-star reviews and Johnny had planned a grand opening for his new food truck very soon. Johnny was very excited to start the new journey with his wife and others but unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer on July 19, 2024, and due to that, things have been put on hold. Nyomi plans to continue to open the food truck in honor of Gloria and Johnny very soon to let the legacy continue. Besides his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his grandson, Courtney Nabors (grandson) and other family members. Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Nyomi Taylor; children, Lakisha Salton, Tanisha Thomas, John O’Connell, Shantae Ross, Romell Ross, and Mamie Russell; sister, Kimberly Williams; brother, Brandon; and stepmother, Mary Williams. Johnny will be deeply missed. Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:00am at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Rd, Columbus, OH 43219.
