Larry Joe Cruse

Larry J. Cruse, 73, of Delaware, Ohio was called to heaven on July 01, 2024. He was born August 24, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio. He passed after a battle with complex, chronic illness, with his daughters by his side. A longtime Harlem resident, Larry was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served honorably as a medic in Korea. He held everlasting faith in the Lord and was an elder devoted to his church family for over thirty-five years. Larry had a grateful and loving heart. He was a gentle man, always showing genuine interest and care for others. He enjoyed spending time with his girls, who were both born at times special to him. His first, Courtney, was born on Father's Day weekend. Kim was born on his thirty-first birthday. He looked forward to his annual summer visit out West, often counting down the days. He especially loved visiting the Oregon Coast and Mt. St. Helens. Larry loved sports. He enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds and shared his love of attending their games with his grandson. He would often visit his Aunt Ruthie to watch OSU basketball. He also enjoyed watching his daughter play basketball and softball, and later, proudly cheered on his grandson at his baseball games. Larry showed dedication to all his endeavors. His loyalty is evidenced through over twenty years’ service, active until his hospitalization, to Advance Auto Parts where he built a strong group of friends. He enjoyed studying the stock market, playing euchre with his longtime friends, and enjoying a Sunday family dinner complete with a nice plate of Chinese food. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Cruse; father, William E. Cruse II; brother, Jim Cruse; sister-in-law, Mary Cruse; and a dear aunt, Ruthie (Price) Baird. Larry is survived by his daughters, Courtney (Robert) Fleming and Kimberly Cruse of Portland, Oregon; his grandson, Dylan; brother, William "Bill" E. Cruse III (Mindy); aunt, Doris Stone; nieces, Beth (Doug) Beaulieu, Amanda (Benjamin) Kerns, Madison Beaulieu; nephew, Mitchell Beaulieu, and numerous other loved ones. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to nurse, Taylor, and all nurses on the fifteenth floor of The James Cancer Center, for their compassionate and tender care.
