Ross Wilson Hyatt Jr.

Brothers and sisters, Ross Wilson Hyatt, Jr. passed away peacefully and went to be with our Lord on February 5, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Wilson Hyatt, D.D.S., and Juanita Pollock Hyatt, and his sister, Barbara Ann Hyatt. Ross is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lillian Rebecca Hyatt; stepson, Joseph Perrin Peacock; granddaughters, Sophia Pascal Peacock and Ciel Elise Peacock, grandson, Jacob Perrin Peacock; stepdaughter, Rebecca Desha Peacock and her husband, Matt Neikirk, and granddaughter, Iyla Marie Neikirk; nephew, Ross Wilson Hyatt Murry, and niece, Laura Beth Murry. Ross was born and raised in Monticello, Arkansas. From a young age, Ross enjoyed fishing and hunting out in the great outdoors of the southwest part of the Arkansas Delta. As a young man, Ross served in the Arkansas National Guard. A teacher for 36 years, Ross dedicated his career to educating, mentoring and fostering values for students. Ross was a devoted Christian and a member of the New Albany Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, and a kind and gentle friend to all that knew him. Ross was very proud to teach the art of fishing to his family and especially, his grandkids who grew up fishing with him. Ross was an avid sports enthusiast, a coach for many years, and an Arkansas Razorbacks mega-fan, even flying his Razorbacks flag in Columbus, Ohio, having moved here as promised after he retired, to be close to his grandkids. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by family and friends for his great humor, his very generous gifts of his time, and willingness to help anyone. He never knew a stranger and was quick to entertain you with his many amazing stories. God bless Ross Wilson Hyatt, Jr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Calling hours & visitation will begin at 10:00AM, with a worship service at 11:00AM, followed by a lunch reception at 12:00PM at New Albany Presbyterian Church, 5885 E.
