Tommy Leigh Brown

In Loving Memory of Tommy Leigh Brown. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing. Tommy left this world on April 6, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 17, 1958, in Lima, Ohio. Tommy was the beloved son of Genie Brown and Winnie Bridgmon Brown, who preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, eight siblings: Cennie Warthem of Lima, Ohio; Houston Brown (Carolyn) of Dallas, Texas; Bobbie Brown and Jan Simmons (Fred) both of Lima, Ohio; Johnnie Gilcrease, Earlene Gales, China Willis (Billy), and Mattie Brown all of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. From a young age, Tommy was a brilliant child, captivating the hearts of everyone around him. His love for books earned him a special place on the Easter Straker Show on WLIO for the remarkable number of books he read in his early years. His thirst for knowledge was boundless, and it was clear that he would accomplish much during his life. A proud member of the United States Air Force, Tommy's service to his country was a testament to his strength, discipline, brotherly love, and dedication. After departing from the Air Force, Tommy worked hard as a railroad worker and later at Walmart Optical Lab, where his kindness and care made a difference. His time in the Air Force shaped the man he became—strong-willed, hardworking, and always helping his fellow man. Outside of his professional life, Tommy was a man with a heart full of love. He had the most caring spirit. He loved dancing and music, with his heart belonging to the rhythms of Disco and the timeless tunes of his favorite artist, Mariah Carey. He was known to light up a room with his infectious energy and passion for life, often found dancing to his favorite hits. His artistic vision was not limited to music and dance; Tommy captured the many moments of life through his murals and drawings, as well. Despite having no children of his own. Tommy is revered by many of his nieces and nephews as a father figure that poured into their lives, abundantly. Tommy leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering family support. Although, he faced many challenges in the later years of his life, he was a man of conviction, with a heart that never stopped giving and a spirit that never stopped dancing. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, the stories he told, the songs he danced to and the laughter he shared. Tommy was baptized at Kibby Street Church of Christ in Lima, Ohio. Though he has left this world, his legacy of love, joy, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rest in Heaven, Tommy. You will forever be loved and missed.
